2013 feels like it was a really strange year, and a lot of weird stuff happened. But it all happened really really fast, and I can’t believe that somehow it’s going to 2014 tomorrow. I always get crazy hyped up over the New Year and write down all of my resolutions for the new years and then crash and burn with them all before January is even over because I love to set the bar too high.

So instead of making crazy resolutions, I’m just going to look back over 2013 and reminisce on some important moments for me…

I moved back in with my parents and started working on having a better family relationship.

I quit uni when I was unsure about my future, and instead chose to earn money instead.

I met some awesome people – Kristie, who cemented our friendship after we were pulled over by the cops. Tim, who I thought might be a serial killer and tried to hook him up with a friend of mine before realising I loved him. And other people like millionaires, TV personalities and a whole array of interesting humans.

Lights of my life.

I chose mental sanity over money, and learned how to make money last after I quit the job that was making me miserable.

I learnt how to drink, then gave it up in order to be healthier and now only drink on special occasions.

I learned to value myself more, and to only hold onto the thing in life that will make me happy. So I expelled toxic people from my life repeatedly, and instead held onto people like my siblings.

After being told by my boss I was too fat for one position and not pretty enough for another at work, I grew to love and accept myself even more. I spent a good amount of time this year focussing on being healthy in everyday life. I now work both of those positions at my new job, after telling her to shove it.

I let other people stop influencing what I liked and didn’t like – and saw One Direction in concert twice! And they were amazing.

I passed my drivers test and became legally able to drive on my own. Not long after I got a speeding fine to teach me about road safety – a lesson still in the works.

So glad I passed!

I learned that travel is best done to make you happy, and blindly following another’s plan will only make you miserable.

I was unaware of what lay ahead of me when I accompanied a friend on their trip.

I explored my own backyard – I went to Melbourne for the first time and fell in love, and I drove with Tim into NSW when we decided to camp in  the wilderness.

I started university again, this time online and with renewed vigour about pushing myself to study and submit assignments. I’m trying to focus on a bigger goal, and see how this will help me in a year’s time when it’s all over.

I gained courage – I made my own decisions, sang a lot of karaoke, dressed up and went on adventures.

I also moved out of home, sent all of my stuff interstate to prepare for my move to Melbourne in 2014, got pulled over by police WAY too many times (and got a few speeding fines, oops), and so many other things I can’t even think of. Excuse the lateness of this post.. In a perfect world I would’ve posted it on the 31st of December as a nice wrap-up, but perfection doesn’t happen often in my life. And that’s how I like it.
